Australia defeated South Africa by 214 runs on the final day at Kingsmead in Durban to take a 1-0 lead in the series. It is their first Test tour of South Africa since the Sandpaper gate, and they made a strong start.
Matt Renshaw was the star for the visitors. Australia were in serious trouble at 124-6 before he powered them to 390 in the first innings with a marathon knock of 190. He followed up with 82 in the second innings, helping to set a target of 421.
Hazlewood Seals the Win
Josh Hazlewood stepped up in the second innings with a six-wicket haul to help his side come out on top. Aiden Markram’s gritty knock of 75 went in vain for the Proteas.
World Test Championship Standings
Australia’s massive victory in Durban strengthened their top spot in the World Test Championship standings, while South Africa slipped to third place. The updated WTC 2025-27 points table reflects the result.
