England Receive a Major Boost as Two Key Players Return for Australia Tour

Harry Brook will captain both 16-member squads as England prepare for three ODIs and five T20Is against Australia.

Jacob Bethell returns to the ODI squad after recovering from the knee injury he sustained during England’s ODI series win against India in July. Jofra Archer has also been included, having been rested for the tri-series in Pakistan. Bethell and Archer are among the changes to the squad who will travel for the ODI series in Australia.

ODI Squad

Harry Brook (captain), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root and Josh Tongue make up the 16-man ODI group.

Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker and Josh Tongue join Archer as the four fast bowlers who will depart after the ODI series. England are managing their workloads ahead of the crucial ICC World Test Championship away series against South Africa.

T20I Squad

Harry Brook (captain), Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, James Coles, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Aneurin Donald, Eddie Jack, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Thomas Rew, Phil Salt and Luke Wood form the 16-man T20I squad.

Thomas Rew and Eddie Jack have earned their first England call-ups. Rew, 18, is the youngest member of the squad and captained the U19s side to the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup Final in February. Phil Salt returns to the T20I setup after recovering from the quad injury that ruled him out of England’s 3-0 series victory over Sri Lanka last month. Aneurin Donald retains his place following his debut in that series, while Luke Wood has also been recalled.

Absentees

Jos Buttler remains sidelined as he begins his rehabilitation following hamstring surgery. Saqib Mahmood misses out due to a knee injury.
