Since inception in '94 Tinhorn Creek has taken health and safety very seriously. In 2011 it became the first small employer in BC to achieve COR certification by FIOSA (Farm Industry Occupational Safety Assn) for its Health & Safety program. Tinhorn Creek was recognized in Oct/11 by the Cdn Society of Safety Engineering awarding it for Safety Innovations in Food Processing honoring this. Employee health and safety is part of the culture at Tinhorn Creek. An active H&S Committee meet monthly to review inspection reports of nine areas of the operation. Being a tourist location, receiving 40,000 visitors a year, as well as a farming operation and mfg facility, there are unique challenges for H&S requiring a commitment in all levels of the firm. New employees undergo a 2-3 day orientation. As a measure of commitment and leadership CEO Sandra Oldfield volunteers as a board member of FIOSA.
